Jenny Jacobs, Registered Play Therapist

As a parent, you might feel overwhelmed, unsure of how to help your child navigate their big emotions or challenging behaviors. Maybe you're tired of the daily power struggles, worried about your child’s frequent outbursts, or just want to see them smile with confidence again. You’re not alone, and it’s okay to seek support for your family.

I’m Jenny Jacobs, a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist. I specialize in helping children overcome emotional dysregulation, develop coping skills, and find healthier ways to express themselves. Together, we’ll create a safe and supportive environment where your child can explore their emotions through play, while you gain tools and insights to better support them at home. My goal is to help your family find balance, connection, and a renewed sense of hope!

Let’s work together to transform those tough days into moments of growth and connection. Through creative techniques like art, storytelling, and sand tray play, I’ll guide your child to build emotional resilience and confidence. With each session, we’ll create positive changes that ripple through your family, strengthening your bond and helping your child thrive.

When children struggle with overwhelming emotions, it can be difficult for them to express what they’re going through—let alone find a path forward. Through carefully designed play-based interventions, I help children understand their feelings, develop the tools to manage them, and foster meaningful growth. Parents often share that after therapy, their children are better equipped to handle life’s ups and downs, feel more confident, and thrive in both personal and social environments.

What Makes Working with Me Different?

As a play therapist, I understand that every child’s emotional world is unique, and therapy should reflect that. My approach focuses on meeting children where they are, using techniques like art, sand tray storytelling, and role-play to create a fun and non-threatening environment for self-expression.

Parents choose me because I not only provide individualized therapy for their child but also include them in the journey. Together, we create a collaborative environment where parents feel supported, reassured, and equipped to help their child grow emotionally. My compassionate and creative methods empower children to explore their emotions, build essential skills, and strengthen family bonds.

What to Expect from Therapy

Imagine a safe, inviting space filled with toys, colorful art supplies, and opportunities for creativity—a space where your child can feel free to be themselves. Whether it’s building a story with figurines, solving problems through role-play, or expressing emotions through art, each session is tailored to your child’s unique needs.

We’ll work together to:

  • Help your child regulate overwhelming emotions.
  • Build coping strategies that foster resilience.
  • Strengthen social and emotional skills for lasting confidence.

For parents, I provide guidance and insight to help you better understand your child’s emotional needs, creating a bridge for stronger communication and connection.
